Drone will do warehouse inventory

A FRENCH company has filed a patent for a robotic drone that can take a warehouse inventory on its own.

The Hardis Group, a software design and IT consultation firm in Grenoble, designed the drone to fly along a pre-determined flight-path that can be programmed to fit in any factory.

Programming would also include the 'addresses' of different stock in their areas around the warehouse.

It is also programmed so that its onboard camera can recognise different barcodes and only take account of ones that are relevant to a company's stock management. It can with with a range of warehouse management systems.

The group is now developing a way to make this technology fit the many types of flying drone on the market
